Урок 20. Are you a green citizen?
Are you a green citizen?
Everyone should think how much effort they make to reduce their impact on the planet. To be "a green citizen" and not an embarrassing shade of red everyone should set a few achievable targets. For example, you should "reduce, reuse, recycle", use rechargeable instead of disposable batteries, put fruit and vegetable peels on a compost heap. So, if you rely on the Earth for food, air, water and much more, you should show your responsibility for the planet’s survival.
Problem of ecology: ecotourism
Ecotourism is an activity for people who can be called "green citizen". It’s a responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local inhabitants. Its main rule is “Leave nothing behind you except footprints and take nothing away except photographs.” First and foremost ecotourism is education. It gives a tourist the opportunity to broaden the mind, to discover new ways of life, to meet interesting people, to improve the knowledge in history and geography. It helps people understand the environment and makes them respect different cultures. Ecotourism promotes recycling, energy saving, water conservation and safe disposal of waste. Unfortunately, some tourists don’t understand the aim of their visit and can pick up rare flowers and disturb wild animals. But anyway if you find ecotourism exciting, learn as more as you can from your visit and you will understand the Earth better.
