7 Tips That Will Guarantee You Find the Perfect Gift

  1. Make the present an event. Get creative with the packaging!
  2. Now, literally give an experience. Don't buy things, buy impressions like the concert of the favourite singer, a couple of days in a new place and so on.
  3. Make a list of all the things the person is interested in and the things that define who they are.
  4. Look to the past. Maybe someone on your list recently graduated from college, and you could frame his/her diploma for display.
  5.  Ask yourself what that person needs. I know what you’re saying. Stop it. They DO need something. The key is to think broader.
  6. Include a little bit of yourself. Make it personal in a different way—personalized from you rather than for them.
  7. Make them laugh. The gift that makes a birthday person laugh will be remembered for a long time.
Shopping for good

The season of giving is here but all the presents – as well as cards, wrapping, trees, travel, decorations, food and drink – associated with Christmas take a toll on the planet and its people.

A 2007 study from York University, for example, found that the average British consumer creates about 1,433 lbs (650kg) of carbon-dioxide emissions over three days of Christmas festivities. And in a 2008 report, King’s College professor Raymond Bryant called Christmas “the world’s greatest annual environmental disaster”. If you want to help the planet you should think of reduction of wrapping paper and the number of unnecessary gifts. You can bake a cake or biscuits, draw a picture or write a poem in honour to a birthday person. All of these impress him or her much and help the planet too.
